I know this might seem a little bit pointless and it will definitely show my ignorance, but what is the island of illusion?

If I'm not mistaken it's a two part episode from the first season where the team is transported to a magical island where they must face their worst fears or disappear forever. Like all power ranger eps it's a bit cheesy but there is some great character development and as always kick ass action. At least from what I remember of it.
And kudos to you for snagging such a find at so low a price.

Your knowledge of power rangers is accurate. That is what happens in the episode and it is indeed very cheesy and not at all subtle. all the characters must over come their fears to gain self confidence and not disappear, which means zach has the self confidence to enter a dance contest. Fantastic. lol.

Thanks a lot for explaining that to me. I have really forgotten a lot about the individual episodes, as I depend on the Disney channel for any chance to watch them and they only seem to show certain episodes. Thanks again!
